Speaking at IandI roundtable on business blogging on April 24th

Apologies for not having time to write much recently. Here's another event:

TEAMSWORK and ‘I and I’ Asia presents...

Next Monday Evening (April 24th) at the Hayworth Creativity Centre, Shanghai.

Find out why blogging should be a critical part of your business communications and media strategy

Why should you be interested in blogging?

Bloggers and internet pundits are exerting a "disproportionately large influence" on society, according to a report by Jupiter Research, a technology research company. Its study suggests that although "active" web users make up only a small proportion of the online population, they are increasingly dominating public conversations and creating business trends.

The strongest part of their influence is on the media: if something online suddenly becomes a story in the local press, then it matters.

The idea of small groups being able to pressurize wider decisions is nothing new, but those who ignore online buzz do so at their peril:

Are you ignoring a trend that can very quickly make you look like a very old-fashioned company?

Come and share the insights of blogging with some of Shanghai’s leading experts on using blogging to re-shape how companies think about customers.

Learn how:

  • Entrepreneurs are using blogging to expand their market visibility
  • You can use blogging to promote yourself, your services, or company's services
  • To become an 'influential' in your market space

Next Monday, I and I Asia and TEAMSWORK have invited four experienced bloggers to discuss their experiences in China and to share what works and what doesn’t.

Bloggers who write for small audiences, can sometimes achieve wider fame or become the focus of consumer campaigns. How are you going to use blogging with your business?

The event will be a roundtable which will allow you full access to interact with the panel.

Come along and learn from experienced professionals involved in the new and growing field of business blogging

Reward: Up to 10,000 RMB for finding good people for CIC data

本文的中文版, 请进入这里: http://www.cicdata.com/refer.htm

CIC data is growing…and growing fast. And we need people. Really good people. Good technology people and good analysts.

As anyone who works in China knows, in spite of the massive population, finding good people in this incredibly booming market is very challenging, particularly in the industry in which CIC data competes.

We are a different company and so it makes sense for us to approach our recruitment differently. We believe in the power of social media (aka blogs and BBS) and word of mouth and want to see if it can help us.

Why would anyone want to work for us?

  • We have a great team in place now which has an incredible passion and belief in blogs and BBS. We work hard; we work hard because we love what we do.
  • In the last 6 months, we have built up an impressive stable of retainer clients for our BBS and Blog monitoring service; almost all end users are Fortune 500 clients. We generally convert one off project clients into retainer clients.
  • We are part of an exciting new industry that is already very hot in the West. We are at the forefront of adopting and adapting this for China. See here for industry background in Chinese or English. Read recent media articles about us here and here.
  • We are just different (in a good way). See here to understand more.

So here’s the deal: if you refer someone to CIC data, and we hire them and they stay with us at least six months, then we will pay you some cool, hard cash. It’s that simple.

We will pay you based on the monthly salary of each person you recommend. We are hiring from very junior to very senior positions, so the range is quite wide. If you refer yourself, then you can get the cash after 6 months. If you would rather donate to charity, then we can do that as well.

Here’s who we are looking for:

Tech: (ideally with text mining background)

  • Senior VB Programmer
  • Senior Java Programmer with Text Mining background
  • Technical Research Director

Research Analysts:

  • Senior Analyst:
  • Client Service Director:

See all JD’s here:

BTW, fluency in spoken and written Chinese is an absolute must.

This is not a hoax…it is the real deal. We want the best! If you are not looking for a job right now, this maybe the job for you. Can you help?

Please send all referrals to: refer@cicdata.com

Kudos to Seth Godin for inspiring this post.
